The value of good content is irrefutable, but most people don’t take the time to follow recommended SEO guidelines to help give that content the key elements it needs to be optimized. Top content writing service providers always suggest that just leaving out a few things could drastically reduce the search ability of that beautiful content that you spent countless hours on or spent money on.
I thought it may be helpful to give you a crash course in how to optimize content. Of course, SEO is only as good as the conversion funneling process, but here are a few things to be mindful of when creating optimized content:
- Keep the length at 400 words or more. you can count the words with the help of free online word count tool.
- Have a clearly defined H1 tag (title) that includes the theme of the content, and incorporates your keyword- Only have 1 H1 tag!
- Have a minimum of 1 H2 and H3 tag, more are okay.
- Don’t just follow keyword density recommendations blindly. 2-3 percent is not enough! The key is to also use LSI, or synonymic terms to help connect the dots.
- Do not start your content piece with your keyword!
- Use your main keyword in the last sentence of your first paragraph.
- Do not bold any terms unless they make sense.
- Do not bold your keyword in an effort to draw Google’s attention.
- And most importantly, keep the content unique. If you copy, you will fail, and you will have wasted your time!
